Many companies believe .mobi domain names are important, and important enough to file claims to win the rights to them
according to DomainNameWire.com. In a post last week, the site noted that since .mobi was released there have been over 150 such disputes filed with the National Arbitration Forum and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Some of the .mobi disputes
filed with the National Arbitration Forum involved well-known trademarks like, click on each mark to be taken to the decision:
AAA American Automobile Association,
Bridgestone Tires,
Diners Club,
Nike,
Thomson Reuters and Las Vegas
Venetian Hotel.
Disputes over domain names with the .mobi extension are eligible for
the UDRP (Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy) administered by the National Arbitration Forum. The UDRP applies to:
- .biz
- .cat
- .cc
- .com
- .info
- .mobi
- .net
- .org
- .ro
- .tel
- .travel
- .tv
- .web
- .ws
Domain name arbitration is significantly faster than the average domain name lawsuit. With the
National Arbitration Forum, parties can see resolution of a
domain name dispute in less than 50 days from date filed to date decided, and it can cost as little as $1,300 plus legal fees.
