The first edition of In Touch, a newsletter put together by the Belgian-based Association for International Arbitration, is now available on the organization’s website. The purpose of the newsletter is to highlight arbitration subjects of interest and to share association news. Issue #01 of In Touch contains three articles:
- Arbitration and Mediation in the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) Countries – EU Relations Conference
- New EU directive promoting Mediation
- AIA's new alliances
The relatively new association was "born out of an innate desire to create and develop a truly global network of professionals in the field of arbitration, be they arbitrators, legal practitioners, academics, scholars or students," explains AIA President Johan Billiet in an online message. He goes on to say that the "ultimate aim was, and remains still, to promote the use of arbitration and other efficient and appropriate means of ADR at both an international and more localised level."
